Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to Our Lady of the River School.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at our school because we acknowledge how wonderful and special your child/ren are to you and thank you for considering educating your child/ren for their future at Our Lady of the River.

The primary years of education are a very important time in the life of a young person. Each child comes with their own gifts, talents and abilities and it is our first priority to build a positive relationship with you as parents, carers and as the main educators of your child/ren to get as much information about your child/ren as we can. At Our Lady of the River we aim to nurture and develop your child/ren with your support and to benefit their educational development through the Primary Years.

We believe that every person is unique and look forward to the possibility of working in partnership with you to maximise the potential for your child/ren.

Our Lady of the River School is a caring, vibrant Catholic school community serving the Berri community and surrounds. We offer quality learning experiences in a safe and comfortable environment. Our staff members are professionals with high expectations of quality in learning. We provide a stimulating, interesting and engaging curriculum so that each individual can access the learning program successfully.

Communication is paramount to our working together for the benefit of your child/ren. We encourage parent participation as you are central to your child’s life. We rely on the support of parent volunteers in such diverse roles such as School Board or Parents and Friends membership, tuckshop, learning support such as literacy or learning assistance program (LAP), working bees and other such opportunities. There are many and varied opportunities for families to be involved in our OLOR community via the newsletter or speak to your child’s teacher.

We are a parish school and acknowledge the support of Father Steve Ardill and parishioners of Our Lady of the River parish. Together we aim to bring the message of Jesus to all members of the community. The faith formation of the children and our families is vital in promoting our Catholic Christian values and traditions. Our school motto is “Charity at all times” which implies action which we hope is demonstrable in the way we live our lives and treat each other and the world.

On behalf of the OLOR School Board, thank you for considering a Catholic education for your child/ren. We acknowledge your effort in finding out about our school. Please contact the front office or Principal if you wish to enrol your child/ren.

Kindest regards

Mrs Ros Oates
