Religious Education

At Our Lady of the River School, Religious Education is seen as the subject in the school curriculum which binds together all other disciplines and aspects of life, integrating these into a context of faith.

Specific attention is paid to Liturgical celebrations of the Church's Year, the Sacraments, Mass, Prayer, Knowledge of the life and teachings of Jesus, Catholic traditions and beliefs, Mary and the Saints. We use the Crossways Religious Education Framework and MITIOG (Made in the Image of God) learning programs.

School or class masses are generally celebrated fortnightly on a Friday at 12.00noon and our junior primary classes have prayer services once per term. Parents are always welcome to share in these celebrations.

Our Religious education team, including our pastoral support worker also run a Mini Vinnies outreach program specifically designed for year 6 and 7 students.
